Abstract

Soybean is a vegetable food which is much needed and prospective. However, demand for soybean in Indonesia which has progressively increased is inversely proportional to the availability of soybean. This paper is intended to analyze the decline in soybean production in Indonesia and map out efforts to ensure the supply assurance of the vegetable protein based on a literature review on previous research or study. Based on a review of some literature, some solutions are proposed in order to ensure the supply of vegetable protein, especially soybean in Indonesia, among others by increasing production and substitution power (on soybean imports) of domestic soybeans, through rules and mechanisms of control over the existing trade system, as well as increasing the role of Bulog and /or Cooperative (KOPTI) in the trade system.

Author Dr Issam Tlemsani , Professor Robin Matthews
Source International Journal of Information Technology and Business Management  pp 054 - 069   Vol 09. No. 1 -- 2013
Abstract

This paper focuses on the ways in which Zakat recognises interdependence and bridges the spiritual and the materialistic values. In doing so, we introduce new perspectives of Zakat. We intend to remind the readers about a probably forgotten perspective, Zakat, in relation to power laws, especially the Pareto distribution. We also introduce novel perspectives, the Shapley value and the social capital. They are three views of Zakat, viewed through the lens of interdependence. We introduce another perspective that recognises the existence of different planes of “Being”, including related materialistic and spiritual planes, but also distinguished by having different orgrammars (organizational grammars). Finally we outline some implications for Zakat as tool for poverty alleviation.
